“Tamaya” en el dialecto Diaguita significa alto mirador, nombre que recibe también el cerro más alto de la zona y en su cima se puede apreciar la totalidad del valle.
En los terrenos de Viña Casa Tamaya hemos encontrado vestigios del pueblo Diaguita, que se asentó en la zona entre los siglos VIII y XV. Inspirados en su cultura, hemos nombrado a nuestra Viña "Tamaya", que en su lengua significa alto mirador, que corresponde también al principal cerro de la zona y que se encuentra dentro de nuestras tierras.
