El sueño de la busqueda de los inconmensurables tesoros del Nuevo Mundo encendio la fantasia de los hombres con una intensidad sin parangon en la historia. Los conquistadores españoles que hace mas de 500 años llegaron a America trajeron consigo no solo sus sueños de grandeza, sino tambien el vino que los ayudo a cumplir sus hazañas. Asi, de la mano de la conquista, comenzo la historia de la vitivinicultura chilena. Lo que al inicio era solo la busqueda de tesoros se transformo el el asentamiento de los recien llegados y con ello el cultivo de la vida.

The longing and quest for the sheer endless gold treasures of the New World have captivated mankind’s imagination like few other endeavors. The history of wine-growing in Chile began with the conquest of South America by the Spanish conquistadores 500 years ago. In places where they had originally been searching for gold treasures, the conquistadores soon began cultivating wine; firstly, for their own consumption and secondly, because they needed ceremonial wine for their religious services. Thus, the first vineyards developed especially in the vicinity of religious centers.
